(https://www.facebook.com/anvilkvlt) The band Atomic was formed in 1983, after Metallica released Kill 'em All, and Slayer released their Show No Mercy. The mastermind of the band Tamás "Atomic" Szilágyi played as aggressively and enthusiastically as Metallica and Slayer, but because of the record industry in the eastern Iron Curtain countries they couldn't release albums, much less in English, like the group wanted to. So the four guys were forced to build their reputation through lots of concerts and the tape trading scene. This way, they uncompromisingly established themselves as a solid band to be taken seriously. The band got a record deal in Switzerland after the fall of the wall in 1994, and released its first album "Slashing Victory" with brand new songs. The CD and MC attracted a lot of attention and got a notable positioning in the sound check of the Hungarian Metal Hammer Hungarica Magazine. Breakneck were characteristic guitar runs with melodic solo parts. They were presented with socio-critical texts, which are the true hallmarks of this band. After the first official album a promising demo was released but unfortunately no sequel followed. The band was sadly inactive from 1996 to 2016 until the release of their second album entitled Separate Races in 2018. After that they started again with full energy and toured Hungary in 2019 with the nationally known thrash legend Akela. ATOMIC is now writing in 2022 and are active again. The guys continue to give concerts regularly, shoot video clips, and so it happens that the next album is just around the corner. The four guys are now more active than ever and are waiting to prove their skills on more European stages! (Norbert Novak)
